DS1 - who is 4 and is ASD called me Mum for the first time yesterday evening. I was resting on his bed while he was playing with his train set. He came over to sit with me and then looked up and said Mum. He does have some speech and has been saying Daddy for ages

That's lovely cyber. I'm still waiting for My Ds to call me Mum He does say mum to my photo though.

That lovely, it absolutely melts your heart when you here things like that, they are such milestones.

DS1 told me he loved me a few days ago, well either me or his Thomas phone, either way it was the first time I heard him say it and it brought me to tears.

Ahh that first 'Mum!' (Ds was nearly 4 too and I remember it like yesterday!) Well done little seraphim!

TotalChaos · 03/04/2008 21:51

that's great

Awww. I was thrilled when DS1 finally started calling me mummy. He'd been saying daddy for ages, too, but used to make names up for me or call me by names of his favourite TV characters.

That is lovely.

3 yrs on I still get a tingle out of my ds saying mum. Get slightly when the "mummy" is said in response to my phone making a noise when a text arrives!

sphil · 03/04/2008 23:11

That's lovely - I'm still waiting for a proper 'Mummy'. DS2 can name my photograph and he'll say it if I ask him 'what's my name?' but he's never said it spontaneously. And the other day when his tutor was doing photo recognition with him and asked him to "give me Mummy" he handed her a picture of a monkey

Lol sphill

Cyber what a lovely moment.. my lil lady does have some language but you couldnt hold a conversation with her. sometimes when she is at school she will say, 'go see Mummy, go see Mummy' over and over and over and over again, (you get the picture!) but then she'll say it when she's with me, and I say ,'I am your mummy' Still its lovely to hear, I do know many children can't say anything so am thankful to hear her say things, even if she repeats them for what seems like hundreds of times and drives me nuts!!

Hope this is the first of many times you'll hear that cyber.

Ds used to say mummy when i pointed to me and said, 'who's this?' but he never called me by it i just got shouted at every morning when he wanted to be lifted out of his cot.

Thanks for all your good wishes. I bought a huge bunch of tulips to celebrate. For everyone who is still waiting, I hope the moment comes to you,
