DS is now at a SS where all children sit together or in small groups. Even if they’re sat alone they are still sat within the group and part of the class. When DS was in MS it appeared that any child who had a 1:1 TA sat with their TA at a desk out of the way facing a wall. The desk was made their own and decorated with pictures, their name and a photo. When I went in for Parents evening, I noticed where DS desk was and felt he could have been part of the class more. He was welcome and encouraged to join in with class activities, play with the the other children and interact with them but I don’t know if there was a better way,

It depends on the child. Any school automatically sitting every DC who needs 1:1 away from the class and facing a wall is a very poor school and discriminatory.

For some DC, having a desk slightly away from the main class group is what meets their needs. Some find it easier facing a wall, others don’t.

Other DC are fine sat with the main class but with their 1:1 next to them. Some are fine sat next to other pupils - e.g. you have other pupil, DC, 1:1. But others need to not sit next to other pupils - e.g. need to be sat other pupil, 1:1, DC. Some can be included in the main class group but needs a desk to themselves.

Some are fine moving desks for different lessons. Some need the same desk every time they are in that classroom.

Some need the desk space empty. Others are fine with it being decorated.

It really depends on the child.
