Hiya just wanted some advice. My son is 20 months old and has been accepted for community pediatric referal for autisum. I did the M-chat and he scored a 13.
He flapps his arms. Walking up and down in lines. Lines things up. Tip toe walking. Doesnt like certain textures or clothing. He shakes his head with his eyes rolled up.
Does like loud noises. Has to smack furniture etc bites and trys eating unedible items. Doesnt like strangers or family he hardly sees. Doesnt like playing with other children. Only says mumma, dadda nanna babba other then that babbles. He shakes when overwhelmed. When standing to watch tv he cannot stand still. How on earth can i help him. Its a whole new world for me my other 3 children didnt do anything like what my son does.

Thanks for any replys. X

You’ve done the right thing in getting him referred. There’s nothing you can do overnight to change the situation. There’s lots of resources online regarding speech therapy and OT. Lots of therapists provide free advice on Instagram and tips on how to provide support as a parent.
If DS needs these types of services keep pushing for referrals - you don’t usually need a diagnosis to qualify, it’s needs based.
Just keep being a great Mum and celebrate any milestones he meets.

Has the HV referred you to anywhere else too @Kittykatmumof4?

I think it might help if he has some SLT and a referral to Portage. Has he had a hearing test too?

Your HV might be able to tell you about groups in your area for DC with SN. I know there's one that's run I'm our village.

We are also lucky enough to have a SN Nursery in the next town so definitely ask what your local provisions are and if she knows of any support groups locally. We have a FB group for parents with DC who have SN.

It might also be worth starting a new thread about applying for an ECHP for him
