Hi we are a family of four looking to go on our first holiday from UK.
SN DD1 (8) has DS, she is non verbal, but makes very loud noises. She grinds her teeth very loudly alongside the above and is very dribbly due to this. So she has at least three changes of clothes per day. She also doesn’t understand much either so we can’t tell her to be calm etc. Obviously not a problem at home but looking for suggestions of how to go abroad. We have DD2 who is now 7 and we can’t let her (and DD1) miss out on holidays.
looking for some suggestions of how we holiday abroad or anywhere, how we would get there. Have thought of driving to south of France but it would take 3 days to get there and back again. Struggling to think of how to do this. Would love some suggestions

Accommodation wise we find cottages/gîtes/villas work better than hotels or closely packed together apartments.

Travelling wise, if you fly, there’s lots of adjustments you can look at e.g. boarding/disembarking first or last, priority security, some airports have sensory rooms.

Honestly, if it's something your kids fancy and you can afford it, I would say that Walt Disney World on Florida is one of the most SEN/Disability friendly places you can go.

For trips in the UK (I know it's not what you asked but worth mentioning), Whitehouse Farm in Morpeth (Northumberland) has just installed an amazing bathroom that is designed to accommodate all sorts of ND and physical disabilities, their staff are trained in various SEN issues etc.....its amazing on terms of accessibility.

An all inclusive resort might be a good option. They usually have everything kids enjoy within the resort so you don't have to travel out to get to a particular place such as a beach, a pool, soft play, restaurant etc. because it's all in one place. It might also help children if they depend on a routine as they'll quickly become familiar with the different locations of the resort.
