DS was diagnosed with ASD Sept 2023. School do not 'see' any issues and the IEP put in place has not been altered since. He is struggling with being told off for talking, distracting other kids, not getting work completed and his PT meeting teacher was 'disappointed' with academic results. He is really bright, but not acheiving and his scores do not reflect his ability. He has very unique 'special interests' which he focuses on and demonstrate this. After he has come home crying for being told off constantly, made to stand up & finish his work I've requested a meeting. What should I be asking for? Have no clue.

Is it the SENCO you have requested a meeting with? If not, ask they attend too.

Some adjustments the school could initially look at are: placement within the classroom (e.g. is he best at the front or at the back), reducing distractions in the classroom, noise cancelling headphones/ear defenders, movement breaks, sensory equipment (e.g. wobble cushion, rocking chair, resistance bands on chair legs, standing desk), do they have anyone who leads sensory circuits?
