SPAR score- spellings. Scored incorrectly?

My year 3 ds is struggling at school. Age 7 years, 8 months and been on sen register since age 3. School have provided lots of additional input. Likely ASD, awaiting diagnosis. We're at the point of needing an EHCP, has had an isp since year r. Scores from standardised tests are around 70 and he's over 2 years behind (5 years 3 months). But one score is coming in at 8 years 8 months, the SPAR score for spellings. It looks wrong to me as he only got 3 spellings right and these were very basic cvc type words e.g. lip. I think the school have scored it incorrectly. Does anyone know how to score it?

The school said once he gets 10 spellings in a row wrong, they stop the test and that's his score. So, he got to question 26 (questions 17-26 were all wrong). Question 25, 17 and 8 were right. As he got to question 26, his raw score was 26. This then came out as 115 standardised score (upper limit of normal).

I suspect when he got to question 26, they should have given his score as how many he got right ie. 3 and then he'd be in his usual 70ish standardised score range. Does anyone know how to score this test? It'll be so annoying if it holds up the ehcp when it's obvious he cannot spell at all (he does different spellings test to rest of class). The school are looking into it too, but they're against ehcps generally and senco has seen the test and surely should have seen if teacher scored it incorrectly.

I don’t think this one thing will affect an EHCP application if he is generally two years behind. Even if it weren’t a mistake (which it sounds like it is), ND often have quite spiky profiles meaning they can be average or above average in some areas and below average in others.

Thank you. I guess, the issue is, the senco just won't support ANY EHCP applications. I'm not sure why, there's always an excuse. We've been very chilled out over the last 3.5 years, as most at our middle class school perhaps want one when it's not necessary. But it our case it's definitely needed. We're extremely worried about our son. He's started punching himself in the face in frustration. We'll keep pushing, but not sure where to go from here.

Yes, we've been told by SALT he has a very spiky profile. Highest in one area she's ever seen (perfect recall?) and very low in others. She said its more in line with children she assesses at SN schools. I know we can apply for ehcp, but really we want the school to so we're working with them. The last email from senco seemed to end with a veiled threat. We need to be careful not to upset the school as its out local school and very good and we have 3 children

I know you have posted you don’t want to, but you should just request an EHCNA yourself.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I think this is where its heading. We've got a private assessment this week, so we'll wait for that and then apply.
