Trigger warning for self harm and suicide attempts

DD (21) is autistic, has severe anxiety and depression, PTSD and a history of mental health problems. She gets PIP, she didn't get DLA as didn't get diagnosed till just before her 18th birthday and nobody told me she could claim DLA if she had MH issues but was under CAMHS since age of 11.
She went to uni in Sept 2020 but after a nervous breakdown during which she attempted suicide by overdose she dropped out in the October. She then came home and started claiming UC and she was in the catagory where you don't have to search for work as she was so ill. She then went back to Uni the following September 2021 and wrote in her journal that she was going to uni. She then had her claim closed. She then dropped out of uni a second time in Feb 2022 after more MH issues including lots of self harm and taking another overdose. She tried to claim UC but they wanted info about student loans etc. and neither she or myself could work out the info needed as she didn't apply for her loan in time so they wouldn't re-open her claim. She then went back to Uni again in Sept 2022 and is in 2nd year of uni now. I have finally got my shit together a bit more and am trying to claim UC for her as she cannot work and study at the same time and

I know if you get PIP you can get UC even if you are a student, if you are receiving PIP before you start your studies. But I am stuck about where to put as her address. Is it the term-time address or the home address? They are asking about rent and the names of the others in her student house. I wasn't expecting her rent to be paid; she just needs money for living expenses as she absolutely cannot study and have a job at the same time like most students. If anyone has been in a similar situation please let me know. I did speak to the MP and her caseworker said the claim should never have been closed in Sept '21.
Any advice gratefully received. I am unwell myself and cannot financially support my daughter although she can live at home for as long as she wants rent-free. My daughter really struggles with executive function and has delegated this task to me, which is fine, but I don't know where to start. She is better than she was but still very fragile. She is getting support for her MH now but it always feels a bit precarious.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post in. Hope it is OK here.

Thank you

Are you DD’s appointee?

I know if you get PIP you can get UC even if you are a student, if you are receiving PIP before you start your studies.

Not quite. Full time students who are disabled can claim UC if they are in receipt of PIP and were assessed as having LCW or LCWRA before starting the course. Student loans (minus some of it), whether taken or not, are deducted from the claim so some DC won’t get much or anything, but others do. Use the university address.

Contact are helpful for information about UC and young people.

Thanks for your reply ❤

No I'm not DD's appointee but she always asks me to do any paperwork for her as she simply can't deal with it as she finds it really triggering and stressful and it leads to meltdowns. So we have to sit down together to do stuff as codes for the login get sent to her phone.

She was assessed as LCWRA prior to starting the course.

Is contact the name of a charity? Thanks x

Yes, Contact is a charity.

It would be a good idea to request to become appointee.

Is it called 'Contact a Family' or is that a different charity? Yes i think i will try and become her appointee as it's so difficult doing her paperwork with her when she is so phobic of it 😕 x
