DD1 often brings home little "achievement certificates" in her school bag. Most of them are a bit ho-hum, there's clearly a lot of creative thinking goes on in school to be able to claim "progress"

But this one is pretty exciting.

"Well done to DD1 for choosing to go on the computer by patting it"

So a) she chose between activities and b) she communicated a preference in some way.

With DD1 there's a huge difference between the things that she does once only and the things she does on a regular basis - so it's not as if she'll be choosing what she wants for lunch in the near future . But all the same, it might mean she is "getting it".

!!!!!!!

It is brilliant R3dhd, it's real communication and pretty much pointing, which is one of the key gestures I'm told for developing language!

That is wonderful

Yes I cried. And it is fabtastic!

Of course, we don't know where it's going yet - it may be that she pats everything she wants. Then again, it may be that she thinks you pat computers if you want to play with them, but it never occurs to her that it works for other objects too - generalising not her strong point! Anyway, it's a win in itself, wherever it goes.

that's great, I do hope that she generalises the "patting"!

Fantastic r3d!! My daughter sounds like a similar stage for making choices, I'm always over the moon if I feel she's made a definite choice. Just this last term she's started choosing one out of two activities, before that it was always food (her mother's daughter, what can I say....)

that is fantastic well done mini r3dh3d
