Meeting with SN teachers

Hi, change of name as I don’t really want to link into other threads!
Youngest has just started high school this year, different one from older siblings. I like it so far, all seems to be going fairly well.
He was diagnosed with adhd just over a year ago and has been on meds since then which has really helped.
The school has offered a walk in session before Christmas for all parents of SN children to ask questions and so forth. As expected, there have been a lot of tests since they started - some all in a big hall, some in class. So one thing I am going to ask about is official extra time being given, and the chance to take tests away from large groups. He was really distracted having to sit in a hall with around 200 others (noises, pen tapping, chairs moving…..usual expected noises at this age!) I know he would probably be distracted by something out of the window anyway, but I just wanted to have an idea of what other schools do to accommodate adhd pupils that makes you think that they are a thoughtful and accommodating school.
I know it is going to be a far from easy road for him, but he will hopefully be able to have all 5 years there (no Covid home learning!) and besides the usual avoidance of sarcasm and mass humiliation (in sons eyes) of some styles of teaching - is there anything else that I should ask about/look for?

I would start with do all his teachers know. You would be surprised how often the answer is no.

Looking at support, it depends on what DS struggles with. For example, does he need a time out card, allowed use of noise cancelling headphones/ear defenders, use of a laptop, allowed to move lessons 5 mins early/late, a mentor to help with organisation.

Thanks @KeepGoingThomas - yes, I had a meet the form tutor session right at the start and I don’t think she knew (though she covered it well at the time). He’s a bit of a mix, so he doesn’t fall into the obvious case of adhd. I need to ask about extra time for all tests - or just mocks/gcses I think.

When you get to GCSEs, extra time will need to be DS’s normal way of working.
