Article in the mail today, don't have link, but India Knight has written about it

It seems to me that the parents are potentially well-meaning, but misguided.

oh have read articles in the past where children with down syndrome were given plastic surgery to make their appearance more 'normal' (for want of a better word).

Hate it hate it hate it - to me it is saying my child is not worthy of respect and dignity unless they look like 'x'. Very sad.

daily mail article

sorry but her parents are a plastic surgeon and his surgically enhanced wife - well meaning - nope again don't see it. Baby Ophelia does not fit into their perfect world and so they will surgically enhance her - as if she is lacking something.

Dear God. What next?

Notice the Mail headline too. 'DS child'. Not 'child with DS'. Nice.

Ophelia is gorgeous

How awful.
She is gorgeous as she is.

The only thing I can say in their defence is that they obviously see nothing wrong in plastic surgery for anyone, not just Ophelia and presumably would be supportive if either of their other daughters wanted surgery later on.
Not saying I agree with it mind you, just that I can see how they wouldn't be as resistant to the idea as the rest of us.
I can't really see why they have done this article as it's all a bit of a red-herring. They are only saying that they will consider the possibility when Ophelia is 18 and can decide for herself, not that they will be dragging their infant daughter off for surgery.
I'm more disgusted at some of the other people in that article who had their little children operated on so that they wouldn't look like they had Down's. It wouldn't have occurred to them to alter their appearance under any other circumstances.
