7-year-old starting ADHD meds but I have to chop a teeny-tiny 5mg pill in half: how?

So sorry for the pathetic thread but I am boggled at how to successfully and effectively chop in half a brittle pill that measures 7mm in diameter without it fragmenting and turning to dust. I had a go with a super-sharp pair of hairdressing scissors (desperate lockdown purchase) this morning but the pill literally crumbled. My seven-year-old’s ADHD brain needs every tiny crumb of this damn medication! Help, please?

You can get pill cutters.

@TeenDivided @YellowRosesWithRedTips why did I not know that this was a thing? Bloody love MN, miles better than Google. Thanks!

DD has a really awkward dome shaped pill that we need to cut, the pill cutter even copes with that.

Have you asked the pharmacist if it’s available as a suspension? Or, can they make one up for you?

I don’t know about ADHD meds; but it’s a common way of weaning children off some drugs (a reduction of 10% a fortnight) - eventually parents are down to giving teeny amounts of a drug. Parents use suspensions towards the end.
