How does it work? Primary age child, now stable on medication so psychiatrist is going to transfer to the NHS.

Will he automatically be under a paediatrician? Will we get a NHS consultant? How does it work?

Are there any gaps that can be slipped though?

Are there any NHS services that will now be available and can provide benefit?

It depends on what the psychiatrist means.

If they mean transfer completely to the NHS then unless they also work for the NHS service and are willing to just transfer you to their NHS list you will have to be referred (depending on your area it will be to either to CAMHS, community paeds or a stand alone ND service) and sit on the waiting list like everyone else. What is available locally varies.

If they just mean the scripts can now by done on the NHS via shared care you will the GP to agree.

In the same position -
Has your GP agreed to shared care?

We're moving to shared care with NHS for ADHD.

It means that the GP will issue the prescriptions and I won't have to pay for the meds anymore as covered by NHS.

I will have to pay for annual/6 monthly (whatever is deemed correct) follow-ups with the private psychiatrist to check how she's doing with the meds.

If I wanted to move that part into the NHS then we would need to ask for a referral and wait however many years to get the appointment.
