GLAD YOU'RE FINALLY GETTING SOME ANSWERS TRACE, EVEN THOUGH IT STILL SEEMS A SLOW PROCESS. My sister's ds was referred to speech therapist because of his inability to tolerate solid foods. It had actually rectified by the time she got the apt through though. AM sure moondog could prob tell you more about that.

btw I messaged you on msn last night but your dh replied and said you were out .

trace2 · 04/03/2008 10:03

yes good luck i hope you get answers, our nurse was saying yesterday she as kids on her books whos had loads then finily one shows up, dd as only had one with abnormal rest was clear

dd sees a SALT for eating issues. It was so bad that we saw a speclialst feeding clinic and they suggested a G-tube. Over my inery corpse I said.
DD now swallows well, hardly chokes at all and can handle roughly mashed food.
Glad you might be getting some answers Trace.

sorry trace it was so long ago I can't remember. hopefully some one will see moondog and get her on here.

mm22bys · 04/03/2008 15:10

We are taking DS2 to a SALT (private, NHS support in TH is virtually non-existent). It's not just about speaking (he's barely babbling at 15 months) but about communication in general. Oh and to help with things like feeding too (luckily though not in DS2's case!).

Hope you get some answers soon, and some good support.

thank you all once again, still worried about this extra fatterning milk they going to add! iv no idea if it works as anyones lols had it? but then again thats better than tubing her

dd had 'extra fattening powder' (Maxijul) and also a liquid - Calogen. Initally this was down her ng tube but when she eventually started feeding orally it was added to her milk and food. It defintely worked - she got quite porky She also had speech therapy as she had oral aversion and struggled with solids/lumps/infacy anything in her mouth other than her blasted dummy.

The sppech therapy was more about getting her used to having things in her mouth.
