I’m looking for a school for my son as he is currently in a mainstream school with ASD resource but they are saying they can no longer meet need.
He has significant difficulties with speech and language - receptive and expressive. He is a bright boy but he does hide it well.
His needs have not been met sufficiently for a while now particularly SALT input and he is becoming frustrated at school and opting out in classes because he isn’t accessing the learning. He generally doesn’t have significant challenging behaviour ( he would never hurt someone or being violent or outwardly aggressive) he is a sweet gentle boy who loves to please but He has started to become loud in class or hit himself to avoid staying in certain class environments / situations.
I’m not sure I have an accurate idea of his accurate capabilities going forward because his needs are not being met and he has fallen behind.
I’m looking at Swacliffe Park as it seems like a brilliant school and has so many positives that I think could help my son but I’m worried it’s only very high functioning / Asperger’s profile children that go there?
My son does have the capabilities to achieve qualifications but he is not going to be a high achiever academically or even necessarily on par with average peers due to his language and processing difficulties. Can anyone tell me more about Swacliffe and the different boys / needs that they take?
