Well, if you don't have a private educational psychologist in my area, you have no chance of getting adequate provision in school. It turns out that up to 20 hours will have to be funded through school via school action+, and the remaining by LEA. To top it all, the local authority are no longer giving diagnoses of autism, and are replacing this with social and communication disorder
So under-diagnose + no statement = saved money. I suppose I ws one of the 'lucky' ones to get a diagnosis of asd!
This is so maddening! I have only just found out this morning, shocking beyond belief!
All those poor children!
I have informed the IPSEA.

Yurt, can you give us more info (and maybe even an address) for govt ombudsman please?

Electra, the Oxfordshire ruling is one that most schools don't seem to have heard of (though I have told some about it) and they don't want to lock horns with the LEA about it because then the LEA would withold some of their delegated SEN money! But I agree: well worth fighting if you're only getting £800 for all your SEN children!

Also MP link - my MP worked wonders for getting J's full time www.theyworkforyou.com/

Erm sorry moondog I can't - I just asked someone who I would take up failure to meet a statement with initially and they said the local govt ombudsman. Which seemed to work. I have no idea who they are or what their role is though

The Ombudsman website has got some reallt good examples (think it's the report link) of how they have dealt with failures by education and social services. They often order compensation and re-addressing stupid council policies.

They were my next step after MP!
