Well Heard back from the LEA re dd,s toileting

as i thought a lot of waffle.

it is "Unfortunate" that the nursery wrote to different professionals giving different accounts of how long dd is dry for.

We ourselves had asked for the meeting to go ahead on 31 Jan, -erm no we didnt as we were still on holiday.

At no point have the nursery attempted to toilet train dd against our wishes,-rubbish as it states in a letter to her paed that in jan they were still doing so.

They would like to assure us that we will be involved in decisions re dd and all nursery have been trying to do is reengage us in discussing dd,s toileting needs.

no apology, no mention of her disability.

but i didnt expect anything else really, the head of SEN actually went in to nursery to seewhat had been going on.

their attitude has changed dramatically, there were 3 of them running round the other day hunting for dd,s lost glove.

she did mention something in the letter about "not knowing" about dd,s toileting difficulties when we applied for a stat asess, hmm wonder if they will use this as a reason to asess her and thus avoid the tribunal as they know we will definately be bringing up what nursery have done there.

Well if it gets an assessment....

I think its the toiletting that pushed DS3's school over trhe edge but Ic an't wait until he's out now as theya re refusing him permission to use his PECs when he's in school (book is too fiddly to carry apaprently - it's an A5 file with a shoulder strap) and thats just cruel.

Sounds as if they finally realise there's no point in fighting you, you don't give up.

Wow!
I am not surprised at this really, I am finding out just how sneaky LEAs can be.
If I was you Peachy, I would send in a full picture board too! Things like that worry me about my ds aswell. Also my ds will probably lose his and I don't think anyone would ever find it for him.
Disgusting about your dd's nursery Jenk.
I bet they didn't even bother to read the paediatrician's report.

they are flippin obsessed with getting kids toilet trained in time for reception, hmm wonder why?

as for the paeds report, well he doesnt work in the same authority as my lea so they discount what he says.

well they wont anymore cos i checked with ipsea and we do have grounds for disability discrimination, but she advised me to try and get it sorted out with the lea before resorting to that.

goodness knows i dont wany any MORE tribunals.

if they drop out of this one im going to tell my bessie mate at the lea that im disappointed cos its 4 times they,ve robbed me of my say!

sorry the LEA seem to be whitewashing and arse covering.

Why are schools & nurseries so obsessed with toileting? if it ends up helping with the statement, but why put you & dd through it

Peachy, it must be discrimination not to allow your ds to use his PECS. They must make reasonable adjustment to enable him to access the curriculum, a PECS book surely is reasonable.
