DD15 suffered what I now believe to be autistic burnout at the beginning of the year. It was horrendous. Too awful to even go into detail on here but she recently revealed that she did attempt suicide.
She's now slowly recovering but school attendance is low because she believes if she tries to go in more than she feels able to then she'll spiral back into burnout.
Obviously picking and choosing when to go to school doesn't sit well with the education system.
DD doesn't fit the school system at all and our EHCP application is taking much longer than the statutory timeline because CAMHs and SEN support is an absolute mess.
We have 1 more year of school to try and limp through. GCSE passes have always been quite unlikely due to ADHD and ASD and learning difficulties. They're even less likely now due to so many missed lessons.
Are there any positive stories of children and families who have been through this and have done OK? I really need to see a light at the end of the tunnel today.
