Changing nappy on long haul flight?

I'm flying with TUI in November with my two year old and the flight is nine hours long.

I've messaged them about their changing tables as my son is the size of a four year old and it won't be suitable for him unfortunately and they said due to health and safety there's no where else I can change him which that's fair enough - I'm planning on changing him on the seat, we will of course have wipes and will keep the area sanitary and clean and will keep his dignity by blocking the view so other passengers don't see this.

I think this is the only option really but if anyone else has any ideas I'd really appreciate it.

Can DS stand? If so, could you change him standing up in the toilet? With you in the doorway if there’s not enough room for the door to shut. This is what we have mostly done with DS1.

Alternatively, the crew may allow you to change at the front or rear of the plane using a blanket as a screen. We have been allowed to do this a couple of times. I know others have, too.

Unfortunately not, he cannot stand independently although by October he may be able to so that's definitely an option to consider.

I'll speak to the staff on the flight, it's so hard trying to figure all this out so I really appreciate the reply.

Make sure DS’s buggy is treated as a wheelchair and returned to you ASAP at the plane door rather than waiting for baggage reclaim.

If he can stand with support can you put the lid down on loo, sit on it and face him towards you standing on ground and he can hold onto your legs while you reach round to change him? You need to be a bit athletic yourself for this to work!

That's an idea. His standing is hit and miss sometimes we can get him to stand with support and other time he just refuses and goes ridged.

Where there's a will there's a way haha

Might be worth trying it out at home it was just that it reminded me of holding a just standing toddler between my legs /thighs while sitting on a sofa and trying to do something!
if it works you could get him comfy with that at home at the sofa then in bathroom before the sensory overload of the airplane loo
