DLA- received payment but no letter. Can someone help me calculate what rate we've been paid?

Finally received a payment into my account, very pleased. But I'm not sure what rate DS has qualified for. Is anyone able to help me with the maths please as I've tried lots of combinations and cannot work it out. Received £1174.10 today (25th). Scan date was February 17th. Thanks very much.

Did you phone for a copy of the form to be sent, did it have a date stamped on it? Or did you just print one off and send it in?

Whoisgoodatmaths · 25/05/2023 09:30

@openupmyeagereyes I sent the form off then called for a scan date. Is that what you mean?

If you phone dwp you can request a copy of the form to apply for DLA. They will send you a paper form to complete, stamped with the date you called. If you are awarded then the payment is backdated to that date. That’s what I meant. Sounds like you didn’t do that given your reply and that the start date of the award is likely the scan date.

openupmyeagereyes · 25/05/2023 09:57

£90ish per week is a bit low for high rate care, so it’s most likely middle rate care, low rate mobility. The rates change in April. Does that sound about right based on your application?

You’ll likely get a letter in a few days.

Whoisgoodatmaths · 25/05/2023 10:23

Yes that does sound about right. Thanks for your help. I did try calling but gave up after an hour (lightweight!) I will await the letter.

@Whoisgoodatmaths hi did you receive your letter by any chance? I’m in the same situation but think my claim is a little ahead of yours, rang for the letter on Jan and letter had to be returned start of Feb.. received a payment 16/05/2023 but still not had a letter to confirm

thanks

Michw82 · 26/07/2023 07:44

I was wondering if anyone could help, or has any ideas. I sent in a form in June and rang to see when they got it, I rang 12 June. They said they got it 30th June, but I just got a payment in my account and it seems very high, its 771. For 6 weeks that's 128 a week? Would that be right or should I ring to see if they made a mistake?

openupmyeagereyes · 26/07/2023 08:07

That probably relates to high rate care and low rate mobility, is that what you’d expect based on your application? You’ll get a letter in a couple of days which will explain what you’ve been awarded.

Michw82 · 26/07/2023 08:12

To be honest I wasn't expecting to get it at all, my daughter hasn't been diagnosed yet, but has tantrums, and accidents, and has no awareness of danger, among other behaviour things, and sits and refuses move because he legs hurt. But I wasn't expecting to hear anything until September when it's been 15 weeks

openupmyeagereyes · 26/07/2023 08:19

Yes it is super early. Is the payment reference DLA?

Michw82 · 26/07/2023 08:21

Yes, dwp dla

openupmyeagereyes · 26/07/2023 08:25

Then you’ve probably been lucky and put in a pile early. I would sit on it until you get your confirmation letter.

openupmyeagereyes · 26/07/2023 08:25

You should receive your next payment in 4 weeks.

Michw82 · 26/07/2023 08:27

Yeah I think I will, I thought about ringing bit ill wait a few days see if I hear anything from them. Thanks for your help

Baby4due2023 · 26/07/2023 12:06

That’s good that it’s gone through so quickly, I applied 13th Jan, got a payment in bank end of May then the letter June. They must of caught up on the backlog

Michw82 · 26/07/2023 14:16

I did ring and they said that they have employed lots of people, and taken some off of the pile, so hopefully they catch up, feel bad because mine has been done so fast and people are still waiting

imamumgetoutofmyear · 27/08/2024 06:34

@openupmyeagereyes High rate is £75 a week for mobility. £72 for care

imamumgetoutofmyear · 27/08/2024 06:35

Happened to me today I found out via bank (plus calculations) my son was awarded lower rate mobility care (along with middle care)

But I haven't received any letters 🤷‍♂️ maybe in next few days, as it was BH weekend.

Edited

High rate care is now £108.55 pw. Not £72. MRC is £72.65 pw. Both were slightly less when this thread was originally posted.

A bit late to this thread but can anybody help.. Applied for DLA for DS in January, was rejected in May, mandatory reconsideration done, a decision was made the 19/10/2024 no letter yet but received £248 today in my account I’m so confused by the amount???

Whoisgoodatmaths · 24/10/2024 07:55

@1988Sinead yes, this is what they do! It sounds like you have been awarded payment, but the money just appears and even when you do eventually get a letter, it can be hard to decipher. Best call them I think.

@Whoisgoodatmaths thanks for your reply! I contacted them yesterday but they just said a decision had been made but couldn’t tell me! I’m assuming the 10 months back pay will just come in due course, just the amount received I couldn’t work out lol

Mildred88 · 03/01/2025 13:44

I’ve received a letter stating my son has been awarded DLA but no information on there as to how much entitlement or payment dates. Unfortunately my son has locked me out of my internet banking so cannot check any payments. I sent the form off 30 weeks ago. And they received it in 6 days after I had sent it. Would the back payment be from say 29 weeks ago say? Or do they not backdate from the letter

Ntsh39 · 03/01/2025 14:04

@Mildred88 They backdate the payment to the date you started your application if online or the date you requested an application if you requested by phone. So you should get 30 weeks worth of payments. Does the letter state High middle or low care rate? Also does the letter state high/low mobility?
This indicates what the weekly amount award is, you can find those rates on dwp websites I think they are roughly high £108 mid £72 low £24
Mobility is high £75 low £25
