ABA for social and communication purposes

I know the debate around ABA and have read a lot from both sides.

My child is mainly delayed in play, communication and social skills. Has no stims or repetitive behaviours.

Has anyone used it and found that it was beneficial for social communication skills? I'm already doing Hanen, but I'm burnt out and mentally exhausted so the addition of a ABA tutor would help me I think.

It's just a teaching method. Similar to Hanen but better data to ensure efficacy and efficiency of learner time when teaching a new skill.

I can only speak from my own experience. For my son ABA has helped him in so many ways that a mainstream or special school have not been able to provide. The challenge would be finding a good tutor but I would also strongly advise you use a professional body with a BCBA to manage the targets and progress. We use Child Autism UK. Please pm me if you'd like further information.

I joined the Autism Inclusivity Facebook group run by autistic adults who have experienced ABA. I feel like they are the best people to ask when thinking about undertaking this type of therapy. You can probably guess they are 100% against it, with pretty much no exception

I would also say that ABA has evolved massively and tends to get a bad reputation here. RiverRock22 if you need any more info please feel free to pm me.
