Hi there just after some advice. Has anybody here managed to get permission from a consultant for their teen to sit their gcses in a seperate room or even at home? Dd was home schooled but is now on roll at a school just to sit her gcses. She suffers from panic disorder and very bad anxiety, also autistic. Our gp wrote a letter requesting this but the school said it has to be a consultant and we could see a psychiatrist to get a letter as they are consultants. Any experiences? Thank you

Sorry I should have said suspected autistic, by school staff and ourselves. We have no diagnosis yet as on cahms never ending waiting list

It is worth you reading JCQ’s guidance as separate invigilation within the centre doesn’t require consultant evidence. It needs to be the pupil’s normal way of working and the disability and adverse effects it results in needs to be established within the centre.

JCQ guidance doesn’t say the evidence for sitting exams at an alternative site needs to be from a consultant either.

The centre has to inform JCQ no later than six weeks before the start of the examination series.

They don’t need to insist on consultant evidence.

My last sentence was in relation to alternative sites rather than separate invigilation within the centre.

This is very late in the day to be sorting this, what happened for mocks? Does DD attend school at all? Does she have an EHCP?
