Just had final meeting at school- with outside support staff as well to say goodbye and thanks. All very warm and caring. I think he's taught the school a lot :o They said they'll miss him (but are pleased he's going somewhere more suitabl :) )

They said they wanted regular updates- which they'll get anyway as one of his LSA's has agreed to do holiday work with us (I was dreading asking him as I thought he might not want to at all but he's really keen- he's the headmistress's son and apparently left his mum a note last night to tell her I'd asked her- she said he never leaves her notes so he must have been pleased!).

So another visit to his new school on Thursday - I think the autism outreach worker is coming as well to make up a book for him. And then we just need to wait for next term.......

And I have to get busy with thank you presents!

will dsd2+3 go to ds1 old school?

coppertop · 07/12/2004 11:35

I bet he's taught the school a lot! :o

It's good to hear that you're going to have some help during the holiday. The LSA certainly sounds keen.

I still keep thinking of your description of ds1 when he discovered that his new school had washing machines. :o

Ah, the end of an era but the beginning of a brilliant new one, I'm sure. Grin
So you've got a new baby and your son starting a new school in the NY? Busy!! It's great about the LSA.

I am sure the school will never forget mini jimjams...... and as you said - they will have learnt a lot.

Great news about the holiday help and hope the new school is a success Smile

I too loved the line 'he's taught the School alot' Grin

Hope he enjoys his new school.

Just wanted to say that I hope everything goes really well at the new school although I know it will. Hope you manage to put your feet up over the next few weeks Jimjams ready for ds3. How exciting a christmas baby Grin

They said he'd taught them a lot :o Quite a few staff members are keen to get PECS trained etc now- apparently he's fired an interest.......

Too far away misdee- they'll go to our catchment school (good school just totally unsuitable for autism), or the next closest (another good school).

It all seems to have worked out for the best then Jimjams? Sadly you had to "play the game" to get to where you wanted to be in the first place but it sounds like its been a reasonably good experience overall. Thank god DS1 wasn't left at m/s for years and years. I know what you mean about asking people if they want to or can do more with your child.... the times I've asked ABA tutors etc about babysitting and they've always jumped at it to my surprise!!

SantaFio2 · 08/12/2004 07:30

IT MAY NOT BE GOODBYE FOREVER, oops!

Good Luck little jimjams. i know once you get used to special school you will LOVE it, like me and davros do:o

maddiemo · 08/12/2004 16:50

Good luck to him. I am sure it will be the best place for his needs to be met.
It will be sad to say goodbye but is so nice that they want to keep in touch.
