What happens if a child won’t do the ADOS

If a child with suspected autism won’t do the ADOS tasks/assessment what happens ? If it’s clearly due to the severity of the possible autism can you still get a diagnosis or do they have to do some of it?
Can the team go on the parent interview / nursery report alone if the ADOS can’t be completed /done at all?

Honestly don't stress. My boy refuses / can't do lots of things - but I thought it was quite amazing how much they managed fo get from him as literally there only was with him a hr and he doesn't like people / new people / new situations

They are trained and they have a suitcase of new "toys" so if the first toy doesn't work they bring out more ....,

It's not boring - it's exciting how it works ....

I thought my boy would crack them (as he's extremely difficult described as "complex" with professionals - but they have seen it a million times b4 - you will be fine.

Good luck

My child has a diagnosis from a multidisciplinary panel, but has never been given an ADOS. I hope you get the right result for your son.

An alternative route of assessment is the ADI-R which wouldn't involve the child at all, just the parents. There's more than one way to assess for ASD if needed. Good luck
