I'm a dad, so I hope you don't mind if I'm here. I have 3 kids, the oldest has cp.

I'm a single dad and I have 3 daughters. The oldest, she's 16, has cp. Does anyone else have kids with cp on here?

I'm always with my daughter and she has a very active life. I don't see her cp as a disability. I take all of my kids sailing, we've been to Nepal, we've done a lot of things.

My wife left a few years ago because she couldn't handle our daughters cp. We argued over everything and I couldn't stand it. I see my daughter for who she is, my wife only saw her disability. She didn't approve of the way I handled our daughter, she thought she was too fragile to do "normal" things.

My other kids are 12 and 8. They're super and very mature and kind for their age.

So sorry, needmorecoffee. Where did you eat in Nepal? We got through the trip with no problems, as I mentioned we had some reccomendations and we brought a lot of our own food. When we went trekking, we ate what we had brought from home.

Which airline was this? Have you ever flown with one of the Asian airlines or even with Ethihad or Emmirates? I try to avoid BA as much as I can.

Etihad were fabulous with us and ds2, i rate them highly

The flight times were changed last minute which meant we missed our connecting flight to bangkok, so they put us up overnight in Abu Dhabi, and whizzed us past everyone because of ds2

they were great with the other kids as well

We went Emirates, so it was surprising that they treated so badly the passengers of that country's airline (not like a cheap budget airline...).

They stuffed up my request and confirmation for a sky cot too. They told me I would have to rely on passengers giving up their seats- which two nice ladies did.

What with the extra stop in Dubai, the stuff-up with the sky cot, and the bus ride, I wouldn't use them again.

we ate at local cafes David, like all backpackers do. Couldn't imagine bringing enough food from home for a 2 week trip!!! And asking a sherpa to carry it! I'm still boggling over hiking with a wheelchair. We hiked out to Everest Base camp through Namche Bazaar and the paths were steep and stony. Where did you go? We then got a lift on a truck through to Tibet (care free child free days there!)
I loved Katmandu but thank goodness I'd been travelling through India beforehand. Flying straight in with the filth would have been a shocker! We did some cycling around the valley, out to Patan but those roads are awful!

In case you're wondering, I didn't have MS back then. Furthest I've been in my wheelchair is Paris and that is a flipping awfil city for a powerchair user!
