Isolation with a SN child

Just really struggling with the loneliness of having an SN Child. Little ones been kicked out of nursery as they can't meet his 1-2-1 needs. Waiting for the SENCO to put something in place. Or not. He may not meet the criteria.
I'm off work on sick with the stress of it all and also casue I have no childcare.
My part time job provided me with a break and I got to talk to adults,
I'm glad to spend time with my son and maybe thats what he needs rather than nursery . But just feeling our world is so small . Hubby is working full time to keep us afloat . I literally have no idea how single parents do it .

Trying to gather the motivation to get us both out the house for a long walk as without 2+ hours of outside exercise a day he doesn't sleep

Anyway.thanks for reading x

If you haven’t already have a look at your LA’s ‘local offer’ page (you can Google for it). This will tell you what’s going on in your area and these are good opportunities to meet local families going through similar experiences. Likewise, look for SEN sessions at things like soft play venues near you. These are usually quieter and, again, are often good ways to make friends who get it.

It will help if you have someone that you can talk to. Are any of your family or friends supportive?

Does DS have an EHCP?

Have you spoken to the LA about a specialist nursery place? Many LAs have assessment places for those who don’t yet have an EHCP but need a specialist place.

Had the nursery applied for early years inclusion funding?

If you haven’t had social care assessments you can ask for them.

Also see if Home Start can support you.

When you say you're waiting for the SENCO to put something in place, what do you mean by that? If it's to apply for an EHCP, you don't need them to do that, you can do it yourself. You will find that you can do it via your local authority website or use a model letter like this one www.ipsea.org.uk/making-a-request-for-an-ehc-needs-assessment.

Re an EHCP / EHCNA The bar is low - you only have to prove that he may have SN and he may need extra provision put in place to help him access nursery. The fact that he's been kicked out is your proof. So he will meet the criteria. I would do this yourself, you're much better off staying in control of it rather than waiting on nursery, who will not share the same urgency as you will.
