What would you tell your child?

Six year old DS has an appointment this month for a QB Test to help determine if he has ADHD.

He knows nothing about ours or the schools suspicions, we've never mentioned it to him as we don't see a need at this moment in time.

I'm just unsure how to explain why he's missing a morning of school to go to the hospital to do this test, and what it's for. I want to keep it quite generic, as though it's just a routine type check.

How would you word it?

Personally, I would start broaching the idea with him that he's going to meet some people who are interested in looking at how his brain works and he will be playing some games. (Obviously reassure him that they won't be actually opening up his head to look at his brain if you think he might take it literally!)

I think at that age, I would be led by him in terms of how much information to give him - some DC ask more questions than others.

Thank you. I'll start with that and see how we go. He is a big thinker and bottles a lot up, so i'm conscious of him seeming at ease with what I said but struggling with it silently
