Something different about DS2 (13m)

There are a few things concerning me about my second son, he is 13m now and I would say I am noticing more and more that makes me question if he is neurotypical.

From birth he's had difficulties feeding (bottle) we suspected tongue tie but it was checked multiple times and no tie. He was diagnosed cmpa in the end but not sure if he actually is. He’s never slept well unless he is poorly. He was slow with physical development - he didnt sit up until around 8m and didnt roll until 9m. He crawled at 11m (same as my first son with that, he is NT) He never responded to his name until quite recently and now its a 50/50 chance. He also does several repetitive movements, the main one is rocking when he is enjoying something (i.e a book or tv) he also waves his arms in an odd motion, we joke he is casting spells. He also rocks the whole time he is eating in his high chair.

Along with all of this I also find his behaviour quite difficult. He is extremely stroppy especially when he is expecting something to happen (i.e if we go in the bathroom he expects to get in the bath) and it doesnt, he will throw a tantrum and chuck himself back screaming and crying. It can happen over tiny things like if he passes me a book and I put it down as I’m in the middle of changing him. He is a very challenging baby as he is constantly on the go and barely sleeps.

He is also obsessed with books to the point that he is bringing them to me all day long. If i hand him one to look at he will spend a long time looking through it studying every page and touching each individual shape.

I’m not sure if this is just a general baby thing, but he thinks anything round is a button and will be obsessed with going over to “push” it.

At the moment he is babbling and making growly noises a lot, he also does a lot of strange nasal noises. One other odd thing I have noticed is that when he sticks his tongue out it only sits on the left side of his mouth, it never goes central or over to the right. Like he has a wonky tongue? Not sure if worth mentioning really.

Theres loads more that I have missed and I’m not sure what Im hoping to achieve by posting! Just feeling a little lost really.

I would keep that list and add to it as much as you can when you notice things.
I knew when our son was born that there was something different about him and your gut is telling you that yours has some issues not worth ignoring.

I waited 13 yrs before being brave enough to do anything about it. Our son taught himself to mirror everyone else once he started school and didn't appear to not be ok, just different.

But those years of school have left him really traumatised and we are now working on showing him how the world works and reassuring him he can be himself safely.

I would find out as much as you can about autism at different stages of your a childs life and be alert for differences
