My 10mo was born prematurely and has hypotonia, with particular low muscle tone in her legs. She still can't sit alone but has been trying to crawl (she puts her bum in the air but can't seem to shift her legs).

Does anyone have any experience of helping their babies crawl with low muscle tone in the legs and are there any exercises/things we can do to help?

(We are under paed care and on waiting list for NHS physio. We pay for private physio but this is focused on trying to get DD sitting. Next paed + private physio appointment are both in Feb hence why I'm asking for advice!)

I had twins prem 21 years ago.
My dd weighed 2lb 10ozs had low muscle tone in her legs and stomach.
Umbilical hernia had physio from 5 months, 1st session at home then clinic.
Can't remember the leg exercises that much. Maybe moving legs like riding a bike in the air.
I sat on the floor and she was layerd on her tummy to help her stomach muscles and held toys for her to look at.,for short times to begin with.
Then they moved onto exercises to sit and to work her leg muscles which I can't remember unfortunately.
Suppose looking back they had to train her muscles to work. No talk of hypotonia.
Was advised not to use baby walker as it would delay her walking, though her height, weight was below bottom of the bold pink. So no chance of that.

Started walking at 18 months, found the ride on toys she couldn't manage.
Used a sturdy plastic A frame walker which helped her balance. Her twin brother and older brother had no problems with the plastic ride on toys to stand and hold while talking.

The physio will work wonders with your dd.
Now completed Duke of Edinburgh bronze, silver and gold.
Just waiting to collect her gold.
