Please help me with my dd.

CAMHS say she is autistic, but have not given her a formal diagnosis.

Because she is undiagnosed, I can't get any help for her like something to back up an EHCP for a special school or pip to afford home education.

However because they say she is autistic they're ignoring all her symptoms. She has said she sees demons and has heard voices. I've been told this is due to the autism and not necessarily a MH problem. CAMHS keep dropping her from the service as they say she is autistic not mentally ill.

Until a year ago she was a well adjusted happy child. Now she's incredibly violent and aggressive. If CAMHS won't help and the GP and socal services says everything is a CAMHS issue who can actually help me?

I fully accept that she is probably autistic and puberty and
moving to secondary has kicked this off but I don't see how that helps me to parent her.

I've got no fight in me and I can't help but feel that there just isn't anything for her in our local area from CAMHS.

What should I do? Should I find the money to fund privately, what/who should I be paying and for what?

If CAMHS say DD has ASD why aren’t they diagnosing or referring to whoever does diagnose in your area if it isn’t CAMHS?

Because she is undiagnosed, I can't get any help for her like something to back up an EHCP for a special school or pip to afford home education.

Support in schools, EHCPs, DLA (PIP is for over 16s) are based on needs, not diagnosis. You don’t need a diagnosis to secure any of them. You can apply now. Look at IPSEA and SOSSEN for help with an EHCP, including model letters. Use the Cerebra guide to help with completing the DLA form. Have you spoken to the school’s SENCO?

Have you looked at Yvonne Newbold’s resources?

Social care shouldn’t be passing the buck, have you had formal social care assessments? A carer’s assessment for you and an assessment from the disabled children’s team for DD.

She's on the pathway for a diagnosis but won't have any input from CAMHS before that. The diagnosis will come from an outside company in an "NHS Right to Choose" situation. She should hopefully be seen in six months or so.

I have filled out the paperwork for an EHCP but I have nothing to back anything up as she never goes to school and therefore they won't arrange an educational psychologist. As far as they are concerned she seems fine when she has gone to school so should be fine. Even though she refuses to go and attacks me when I try and get her to go.

I have actually filled out the paperwork for DLA, sorry not pip, but not sent it yet as I was hoping to get something concrete from a doctor before I send it. I've got no official anything for her so I'm scared that it will be dismissed out of hand.

Ss are involved. They weren't very helpful to start with and now seem to be understanding the issue but they also think it's a camhs problem.

Spoken to the SENco but unless dd goes to school we're not getting any help from them

I think I think I have to accept that I won't be getting any help from any services. Or that if I leave it up to them that I will end up fighting for years. I just need to know where to go next.

We're having a similar problem with my DD. Camhs refused to diagnose her as based on the tick box form she doesn't meet the criteria ( probably because she's a girl and doesn't present typically). I then asked for anxiety support but she doesn't meet the threshold for that either.
We're going private but that's still a nearly 6 month wait.

If DD can’t attend school the LA must provide alternative provision. This should have begun once it became clear DD would miss 15 days. If this isn’t in place you need to email the Director of Children’s Services informing them of the situation and requesting provision. If that doesn’t work email them again reminding them of their duties under s.19 of the Education Act 1996 and if they fail to provide provision you will be forced to begin judicial review proceedings. Then if they don’t provide it contact SOSSEN for help with a pre-action letter.

You don’t need the school to arrange an ed psych assessment. Have you formally applied to the LA for an EHCNA? If so, and you haven’t heard whether they are going to assess within 6 weeks you need to email the Director of Children’s Services threatening JR. If you haven’t actually formally applied to the LA you need to.

What support are social care providing. They shouldn’t just be saying it is a CAMHS problem.

Ask for a copy of the CAMHS referral form and CAMHS letters/notes and social care documentation for evidence for DLA, and send a copy of the EHCNA request. Don’t wait to send the application though, you can send on the evidence when you have it.

I think I think I have to accept that I won't be getting any help from any services.

Only if you allow them not to provide support.

If you are awaiting for an assessment Scope offer mentoring.

My dd has been diagnosed and there's still no help. She hates school, life, her looks etc. the only advice I get is to homeschool her which as a single mum I can't do. It's a nightmare.

Have you applied for an EHCNA? If DD can’t attend school pursued medical needs tuition? Asked for social care assessments?

Put a referral in yourself to the hospital for a diagnosis. That's what I've done and we have been accepted
