I think we've won re: Statement/ Tribunal...

Got a phone call from head of SEN in the LEA today, saying 'I hear you've had the ADOS results...we haven't got a copy'. I said, 'well, you've had a copy sent by the hospital, maybe it's been lost in internal post.'

He said, 'well, your son apparently scored 20, that's really high, very severe autism' to which I said, 'yes, but he's not really severe in terms of communication and learning, just behaviour. I still want him in mainstream, just with full time support'.

He said, 'well, we got your MP's letter' so then the reason for calling became clear!

He said now that my son has a dx of autism, full time's not a problem but and yes, we can have the half-termly outreach visits from the autistic school into the school too.

So no need for disagreement resoulution or Tribunal now? He said hopefully. I said when we have it all in writing in the Statement, fine!

So well done to MP!

Plus, guy said he wants to meet to discuss how our case has been handled so that they can 'learn from it'. Yes, they need to!

So today...at last...but I ain't getting too complacent till I see it in writing.

Thats great Good on you for fighting them. Hopefully they won't drag their feet about putting it in writing now your MP is involved.

Brilliant news

Don't cancel your SENDIST date until you get what you want though!!!

daisy5678 · 01/02/2008 17:59

It's so annoying that it's taken the MP being involved to get it sorted, but yes - hopefully it will speed things up. The MP doesn't know us - she only knows what I've told her and the reports I sent her. The LEA know the same things!

I won't be cancelling SENDIST until that Final Statement is in my hands!

I landed up writing my son's statement. They farted around for a bit so I sent in what I wanted to 'save them the hard work' - they changed two words and I got what I wanted!

We had to get our MP involved as well plus our local councilor. It's such a pain in the bum.

I met a Senior County SEN Advisor yesterday at an interview I went to for a job. She said 'well of course the money is being put into schools which helps the children rather than going on statements' I was good, I bit my lip and didn't give her what for. She got the bloody job as well (well I couldn't compete with her experience level)grrrrr

Bottle of wine????

Oh yeah, the delegated funding wheeze where the money goes into school, isn't ringfenced, can be spent on whatever the school wants (if a generous budget i.e. deprived area) or not enough money goes in (leafy suburbs) and then all statement applications are turned down because 'the school has had its SEN funding delegated and the school can meet pupils' needs from that budget now'. You were very restrained! Sorry you didn't get the job - yes let's have a bottle (or two) of wine!
