Higher rate care DLA and tax credits - please help?

Hi all.

My daughter's DLA claim has been amended from middle rate care to higher rate and backdated to the start of her claim. I'm already receiving an extra payment in my child tax credits for the disabled child element. I've read that there's an extra payment of about £27 a week if they're awarded higher rate care but can't find much information online.

I have updated HMRC but am yet to hear anything back. I was hoping for clarification from anyone here who may know whether or not there actually is a 'severely disabled' child element added to tax credits if the child is receiving higher rate care DLA or if it's just the standard amount that's awarded with the middle rate.

Thank you.

Yes, there is a severely disabled child element.

You should also check whether you would receive more on UC, as many families with disabled DC are.
