'Borrowing' equiptment from OT and physio.....?!

We currently have a jenx standing frame and chair from the physio and OT. In the past we have had a tumbleform, once we had no use I took it back to the CDC and I was amazed with the response i got from the reception lady as she implied that it is very rare for equiptment to be returned. I just thought that this is what happened- you used it whilst you needed it then returned it for someone else to have benefit from?

I spoke to my OT about this and she admitted that she cant remember what she has lent to who?? WTF that would be equal to £1000's that she doesnt know where it is??? There is only a limited budget for these things and I was quite angry that she just didnt have a clue.

Is this normal practise and was I being naive in thinking that people would return things??? I even saw a jenx standing frame at a car boot sale the other day which had property of....... printed on the side!!!

lou, very good point, and certainly somehting I will keep in mind...(I am hoping to train as an OT from September onwards...so, if that is common practice, indeed the system does need changing in order to save money)

when we borrow stuff. we normally move up to next size so old one is returned. I think that if people sell the stuff it is theft as it is only ever loaned to you.

I was just surprised and frustrated that the OT just didnt have her finger on the pulse with what she had loaned to who.

we always swap it for the next size up and to be honest, I'd like all the nasty stuff gone. Got a standing frame (Jenx, hideous stupid monkey one), R82 Panda chair, large yellow ball, sitting wedge, 4 foot long roll thingy and a walking frame and nowhere to put the durn things!
dd's OT and physio come to the house so they remember what we've got.
