Breakfast ideas!

I am just keen for some new breakfast ideas. DS1 is 12 nearly 13. ASD and sensory issues around food and eats like a little bird. (DS2 is NT and eats everything).

DS has for breakfast a single slice of toast with butter. Occasionally he will have cream cheese instead of butter. He has a multi vitamin recommended by his dietician. Sometimes I can get an innocent smoothie into him. He will not eat cereal, or eggs. Or yoghurt or porrdge. Nothing 'slimy'.

DS is not underweight, and is monitored. But I would love to know what people do for breakfast so i can suggest some options to him and see what he might be interested in. Smile I seem to be in a bit of a rut. Although he had a phase where we did homemade sausage mcmuffins so i might make a little foray into those again...

Many thanks!

Pancakes. You could add some protein powder to bulk them up a bit. His choice to add peanut butter/Nutella or something on top or have plain.

Hash browns & sausage patty, maybe in a wrap.

potato waffles & sausage -I keep wanting to add beans but I’m guessing they’re a no.

breakfast muffins. Most of these make it seem like he’d be eating a cupcake for breakfast so they may be tempting.

Maybe bagels or fruit toast?
Croissants/pain au chocolat/brioche
Different toast toppings like peanut butter/jam/pate/chocolate spread
A sandwich with filling he likes? Or just continental style bread/cold meat/cheese for him to eat however he likes

Thanks so much. Fruit toast is out. But breakfast wraps, and a plate of bits he can choose from sound good. Bagels definitely. Something with a bit more heft than plain toast anyway!

Croissants - a definite yes. Breakfast muffins- I certainly think we could experiment.

He loves hummus so hummus on toast might work as well. Jam is out (although he loves jam in Victoria spinge, but not in any other form) [bangs head].

I am making a list. Thanks for suggestions. :)

Just to update. Today I made those bake at home croissants which went down very well. DS1 almost has food phobias and anything new is out so actually this expanded a bit. Gently... gently....

many thanks. Thanks

This is amazing news, I'm really pleased for you. Well done to you and your DS! Hopefully you'll get similar results with some other foods too 👌

Would he like to help bake the muffins?

Would that make them more appealing to eat?

Dry Wheetabix goes down very well in our house.
Teacake
Crackers with fruit
