Books for children with ASC

I have a child (9 years) with ASC who has just been told about the diagnosis. I have been searching for suitable books to explain. DC does have social communication issues and some sensory issues, but has been receiving a decent amount of support so far so hasn’t really been struggling as such. I’m conscious this can change and the teenage years can be hard. But I’m looking for a book that is informative and positive and doesn’t include scary statements such as “People with ASC find it hard to make friends” which can sound alarming (no friendship issues so far).

I also came across the magazine “Outfoxed” for autistic kids, it is Canadian, does anyone know whether it still exists? I tried to subscribe but the link didn’t work, it looks perfect so I would love to be able to access it…

Thank you

There's a trilogy of fiction books where the main character is autistic - Ways to be me, Can you see me? and Do you know me? by Libby Scott and Rebecca Westcott The books are co-written by an adult author and a pre-teen autistic girl. They're exactly the kind of books I wish had existed when I was a teen/pre-teen. Ways to be me (which was written most recently but is first chronologically) is about the character's diagnosis when she's in Year 6; Can you see me? is about starting Year 7, dealing with bullying and making new friends. Do you know me? is about the residential trip at the end of Year 7 and how she deals with being away from home for the first time.
