some of you may know that our motabilty car was written off last week, we had the C4 grand picaso 7 seater, i paid an extra £1600 to get the model i wanted we had the car for 6 months, motability have just told me that i won't get the £1600 back towards the new car deposit, they do it prorata and cos the car was all of 6 months old they will only give me £1250 back

onlyjoking9329 · 21/01/2008 15:28

and guess what, you know how the deposits change every few months it's not £1600 deposit anymore, and given the luck in the OJ household you can guess it has gone up to £1750

Surely they are not applying the increase to your situation!!!??

onlyjoking9329 · 21/01/2008 16:42

oh yes they are cos it is the price on ordering that they go by.

if you do pursue the PI claim, then tack the £450 you are out of pocket onto that as an uninsured loss (presuming your insurance doesn't cover the lost deposit).

This is awful. Does it say anything on their website or in their handbook about this pro-rata business? If not, then it's about time that they made people aware of it upfront before they hand over their cash.

The thing about the deposit price increase stinks, quite frankly. If you've already paid it as a lump sum, how can they move the goal post like this?

I hope that they see sense and sort it out for you.

i didn't know anything about it, i will tag the cost onto the personal loss/injury claim

try and claim the extra costs off your insurance (or the other insurer) - it is part of the cost of replacing your car.

I think the price drop is normal for depreciation - and it is biggest on a new car.

onlyjoking9329 · 23/01/2008 09:28

rhanks, i will add it to the claim
