We have seen 2 physio's this week 1 we paid for and 1 at the cdc. I had always thought that ds2 had tight muscles he used to stand with his knees bent so lots of long sitting and gaitors.
We have been told by both physios that ds2 has very low muscle tone which would explain his balance and coordination problems.
Is it common for their muscle tone to change like that.
Oh god it is so confusing and I am going to have to rewrite the b**y Dla forms again.
The interesting thing that came about today was that the physio we saw today admitted that you wouldn't expected any child of his age to manage without a pushchair never mind one with his problems.
Just wait while i get them all together at his therapy meeting.
Has anyone else heard of this kind of change in muscle tone.

meea, don't know about muscle tone but just sending you a hug.
Get that physio to get on to wheelchair services for a buggy...

Hi meea. My dd has low muscle tone, but as time progresses we're starting to pick up on the fact that her arms have intermittent high muscle tone, which we/ others hadn't noticed originally. I don't know if muscle tone changes, but is it poss. that he has mixed tone, e.g. high tone in legs, but low tone in trunk & arms and the latter's just starting to come to light? Sorry I can't help more, hugs to you.

Low muscle tone usually means your child is floppy, easy to dress etc. Could it be that your Ds stands with his knees bent because he doesn't have the strength in his leg muscles to straighten them?
Just a thought.....
