Can an EHCP be taken away?

Back story. Eldest is autistic and has and EHCP at pre school which was and still is very needed.

then there is my youngest. She was initially rejected for an EHCP then managed to get one (again at pre school age before school) due to significant speech & language delays and gross motor skill delays. She has no official diagnosis but I do believe she has dyspraxia but school are reluctant to refer (as they are for many other children needing help too).

my youngest has made huge progress. So much so you wouldn't think she has sen. But she does struggle academically. There are children with more significant needs in school who do not have an EHCP.

i do believe she could be autistic as well she masks very well and he's very subtle (a bit like me, I'm an autistic adult but masked very well at school).

of course, I'm happy for her to have an EHCP. But my question is, can they get taken away if rapid progress is made? Or the school feel it's not needed.

I am just panicking over a comment made over the teacher regarding my daughter and her needs.

The LA can cease to maintain the EHCP, but only in certain circumstances - if the LA are no longer responsible for the child or if it is no longer necessary to maintain it. There is more information here. It doesn’t sound like this applies in DD’s case.

Did DD not have an OT assessment as part of the EHCNA?

Thank you. No she never had an OT assessment. Apparently it's something the school should have sorted but never did... she did see a physiotherapist...

If you asked for an OT assessment as part of the EHCNA it was the LA who should have organised it. You could request a reassessment of needs and if the LA agree to that request an OT assessment. And if the LA don’t agree to a reassessment of needs you can appeal.
