to make you smile/proud this week ?

OP posts:
magsi · 15/01/2008 21:35

God, I cannot choose one thing. My children make me so proud and smile just by looking at them all day long .

magsi · 15/01/2008 21:38

Actually, I have just thought of something. Yesterday it was Ds1's birthday (CP and at ms school Receiption), and he stood in the doorway of the class, handing out sweeties to his classmates, smiling. A massive achievement considering he didn't want to that morning

2shoes · 15/01/2008 21:44

well this isn't really a good thing but i thought is was so "normal" i was proud.
dd is more or less dry. but she had an accident at school. jeans and wheelchair got wet. ca was trying to change into some trousers from the spares. she wouldn't have a bar of it. ca had to phone me in the end.
(what 12 year old would want to wear trousers too small from the spares)

TotalChaos · 15/01/2008 21:45

I know what you mean 2shoes, DS (3.10) is suddenly finding bottoms hysterically funny - pictures in his books or the word, and I am because I just think that's so normal too.

MegaLegs · 15/01/2008 21:47

DS4 now walks more than he crawls. I can't get used to seeing him upright and every time he toddles past I grin He is also using his Makaton much more. He came into the kitchen and signed biscuit and more drink please almost perfectly this morning.

on my way

lottiejenkins · 15/01/2008 21:57

Not this week as such but very recently, i let my ds walk home half way from the doctors on his own, whn i got back he was waiting at the gate and announced that he had seen three children that he knows going into the park and he was off to play with them! I signed that i would be down in 5 mins, when i got there they were all playing nicely together and he told me he didnt want me there and to go away so i said fine i will go and sit over there, no mummy go home! so i did and the young girl sent him home after ten mins, it was so lovely that a) he wanted to have that independence, b) i was able to let him and most importantly c) the others were happy to let him join in! My all grown up boy!!!(grin)

lottiejenkins · 15/01/2008 21:58

sorry

daisy5678 · 15/01/2008 22:27

Had a good day yesterday - only needed restraining once, very briefly and actually did some of what everyone else was doing (as opposed to last week where he was continually storming out of the classroom, hurting everyone, scratching staff, being restrained... )

So yay for my boy! It's nice to feel proud - teacher and Behaviour Support Assistant even rang yesterday to tell me how amazing he'd been after the awful first week back!

Long may it last...

ladygrinningsoul · 15/01/2008 22:47

DS was playing with the touch screens at the Science Museum. He had waited patiently for a long time to go on them and had not been on them for long at all. Another little boy was waiting behind him, not very patiently at all. Without being prompted DS finished his go sooner than necessary and told the other boy it was his turn now. How proud was I!!!!!

Pixel · 15/01/2008 23:06

Ds walked round a furniture shop for ten minutes holding my hand on saturday. A big achievement for him as he usually hates shops and just lies on the floor (usually in the way so people can't get past!) and he doesn't normally do hand-holding either.

Saker · 16/01/2008 09:35

We went to a soft play on Sunday. Ds2 is quite a big six year old but prefers to play on the toddler climbing stuff because it is more his level of physical ability. I was impressed how careful he was to let the little ones go past him and wait his turn at the top of the slide especially as he is quite clumsy and finds it hard to stop and start and control his body easily.l

HowardMoon · 16/01/2008 09:37

My DS (ASD - 3) has relinquished his dummy during the day for the past 2 weeks, and has started to verbalise more since then. He has also learned to spell several new words with his bath letters, including quite randomly 'Pixel'(the film company, logo appears at the beginning of a lot of cartoon films). The poster below will be impressed ! I am so proud...wasn't really sure who else to tell as many people in RL just wouldn't get it...

Peachy · 16/01/2008 10:26

LAst time we were at BIBIC DS3 couldnt draw a scribble- this time (7 months later) for some unknown reason he drew 7 perfect snails

Fab!

(He's also listed as makinga dvances on 23 points which is just bloody amazing frankly, and has now a developmental age of 2-3 as opposed to 18 momths (communication 15 - 18 months still))

Hurrah!!!!!!!!!!!!

deeeja · 16/01/2008 23:17

My ds (asd) let his baby brother kiss him today! And he didn't push him!

lourobert · 17/01/2008 12:05

Just how bloody stubborn my son has suddenly got when it come to food. I swear that at one point when I was trying to feed him he turned his head and as he did so he said ' NO'which would be his first word. Hes 2.2

I love it that he is starting to know his own mind and communicate it

2shoes · 17/01/2008 12:11

new one dd's keyworker has just told me she is continet ast school

TotalChaos · 19/01/2008 21:38

just said (in response to Snowman dvd) - "boy brush teeth in bathroom.". That's the best sentence he has ever spontaneously come out with

ladygrinningsoul · 19/01/2008 21:43

TC, that's great!

ladygrinningsoul · 19/01/2008 21:44

And thanks to the OP for starting this thread, it's lovely to have a "good news" thread.

HairyMaclary · 19/01/2008 21:45

I know this is a bit of an old thread but my DS started nursery this week. I'm so proud of him . There were no tears - he loved it and he even got up in his frame and danced when the music started. It makes me so happy (tinged with sadness that he has to use the frame) but I'm sure you all know what I mean. My little tiny, premature fighter has taken his first steps to independence!!

sphil · 19/01/2008 22:10

DS2 has started induction at m/s primary. On Friday we went into singing assembly and he did some of the actions to 'If You're Happy and You Know It'. I had to whisper in his ear 'Show me clapping...show me nodding head' etc at the appropriate times but he did it, in an unfamiliar situation, with all the sensory distractions of an assembly round him!

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 19/01/2008 22:13

He had an general anaesthetic.. and then sat up on the recover room trolley and (he of not much langauge or balance at the best of times) declared "ooh I'm bit wobbly.. I NEED COOKIES!!!!"

sphil · 19/01/2008 22:27

Shiny. Did you cry? I would have!
