Autistic DD and a broken ankle

DD1 (aged 7) has autism. She has an EHCP and attends an autism unit. She has always jumped a lot (jumping and flapping her arms, trampoline, bouncy hopper etc). Sadly on Saturday she had a bad accident on her trampoline and has broken her left ankle in two places. It was described as 'borderline' for needing surgery and we had to have opinions from 3 consultants, but the medics have eventually decided to treat conservatively and she's in a non-weight bearing plaster-cast. She already getting very frustrated about not being able to jump. I don't know how to manage this. She is likely to be unable to jump for weeks. Has anyone been in this situation and got any ideas for managing this?

Hiya - is the jumping a stim? Is she sensory seeking? In which case, could you try something swingy - a chair swing or a hammock or something? Or maybe buy a cheapo inflatable lilo and let her roll backwards and forwards on it? My son has a wobble cushion at the dining room table and he enjoys that. (Only about £12.)

If all that is too risky with her injury - maybe lean into other stimmy behaviours she has to manage her sensory needs? Eg spinning toys, sparkly toys etc

Yeah it's a stim. Those are some good ideas thank you @Titsflyingsouth The wobble cushion is definitely a good idea. She uses those at school I believe. x
