I'm on here with Sabaidii. I took her and her youngest child (6) out for lunch. Everything was going ok until lo started screaming. The bl**dy tourist walked over to lo and shouted, "Fuck off! Can't you see my girlfriend and I are trying to enjoy our lunch."

This, i will add, is the first time in her life she's been to a "real restaurant.' Why do some people have to be so fucking rude? I'm sorry for the rant, but my blood's boiling. Sabaidii and lo are ok.

We're in Laos btw.

Appalling.
Some people.....

moyasmum · 11/01/2008 08:17

I dont think you have to.

If a bloke I was with, was fuming at a child crying and strode across to their table and told the parents /friends off, I would be mortified at being with him!

Any other diners would be secretly on your side, even if they were annoyed initially, his boarish behaviour puts him in the wrong.

Unfortunately, there are people who treat any slight intrusion as a capital offence ,try to put it to your dd that it really is him and most people are ok. (not ignorant arrogant socially innept wannabes).

Compassionless bastard and a rude fucker to boot.

needmorecoffee · 11/01/2008 09:33

I'm so sorry. My best friends husband did the same thing when ds1 was 5 and having an ASD meltdown. She was mortified.
Did you have a word with the tourist?

wooga · 11/01/2008 09:43

That's awful

Hope he choked on his stupid lunch.

ninedragons · 11/01/2008 09:59

Wow, that's shocking.

Can I ask where in Laos you were? I ask because there's a very friendly restaurant in Luang Prabang I could recommend that's run by some right-on women, who I think would probably have booted him straight out the door.

sabaidii · 11/01/2008 11:46

I did say something to the man but he was one of those types that have to have the last word. It's been a really horrible day.

We weren't in Luang Prabang, but please could you give me the name of the restaurant anyway. It could come in handy for later.

I think it's called Cafe Jo Jo. It's down opposite the Maison Suvanaphoum (no idea how to spell that) on the main road. The owners seem to be lovely people who are very into the idea of helping the community.

Fantastic food, as well.

Sadly asd kids seem to often gett hat kind of reaction- its like because their disability isn't visible that makes them non-disabled.

you do get somewhat used to it, I am afraid- but that doesn't make it oK.

Some poeple left a lcoal restaurant here in a huff recently because the family next to us had a daughter with Downs Syndrome.

Just remember- its not about you, its purely about them.
