DS has snapped off his two NEW front teeth!!!

Apparently he head butted the floor (yesterday at school). We spent the afternoon in an emergency dental clinic.. and he has to have 3 lots of root canal under sedation.

The dentist yesterday put a bit of temporary "something" over the bits that are left and rounded off a very sharp bit. It took DH (underneath DS on the dental chair), me (clamping his head still) and a dental nurse to hold him still for the 2 mins this took!

Only yesterday morning I was looking at his new school photo and thinking how lovely he looked and how straight and even his second teeth had come through!

They can't get him in for the first treatment til TUESDAY! The specialist said she needs time to go through his "complex medical history".

Sigh!

poor lil boy. Root canals are awful. Ask about sedation at a dental hopital that specialises in paeds.

Commiserations. Both my DS1 and DS2 broke their front teeth and I was very upset.

Is it quite common then do you think? I was wondering if DS's were particularly weak as he had some probs with his milk teeth when they first came through (paed thought it was a developmental issue to go along with all the others.. )

He'll have various spealialist paeds. at his disposal NMC.. they already know how high maisntenance he is!

oh poor you

In our case DS1 (dyspraxic) went over the handlebars of his bike (at grandmas- I wouldn't have let him go out on it ), and DS2 had a football thrown in his face by some little shit a classmate.

oh shiney how horrid. ds chipped his front teeth and i was SO upset. he has now had it capped (under sedation) and it looks fine)

TotalChaos · 10/01/2008 21:27

He has to wait til Tuesday for his first lot of treatment. Paediatric SN dental specilaist (!) has just text me (most impressed!) to tell us to be at the local children's ward at 7.30 am on Tuesday.. that's going to take some organising on a school morning!! I wonder if all the treatments are going to be like this!

He's been in a bit of discomfort on and off but nothing that can't be handled with calpol. He's eating/drinking normally so just hope he doesn't knock the temporary bits off before Tues!

Oh.. I already told you abour the Tues bit!

Thanks for the support.

Do you think I should take a photo of him sporting his newly grown natural teeth so they can make them look the same??! Or is this a stupid question?!

they do like their 7.30 starts. dd has to have some teeth out under a GA in a few weeks and they want us there at 7.30. We don't have a car, there's no wheelchair accessible buses and no taxi's (I called 15 companies to try and get a daytime ride yesterday)
might have to carry her on the bus and dh follow later with the wheelchair (the 9.45 is first wheelchair bus)
Good luck Shiny. Hope it all goes well.

You WILL have a car soon though WON'T you NMC! [stern look]

Thanks NMC

I am in pieces over the fact that I thought a decayed tooth of my daughter's was her first tooth and it turns out it is her second (permanent one) and has to be removed. I feel terrible about it and have no idea how this will affect her smile etc. She is only 12 years old and it is the fourth tooth in on the top. Has anyone else had this ... is there a huge hole?
