Hello,

Has anyone successfully found a private OT or Speech and Language Therapist in North London? We are based in Islington and I am finding it really hard to find anyone to work with my 8 year old. I have been on the independent speech and language website and called the practitioners I could find on Harley Street. If anyone has any recommendations I would really appreciate it! Thanks

Is it a case that you want recommendations or you can't find one or you can't find one who will accept your DD? What are her occupational challenges?

It is a case of I can’t find one who has availability to see my DD. She has sensory needs and we have had an independent OT and SLT assessment which recommend therapy to address these needs. I have called/emailed a number of therapists and no one seems to have availability,

There is huge demand for sensory at the moment. You might just have to get on a waiting list. Have you read the out of sync child? That's a good place to start.

Small talk SALT are in bloomsbury. I thought they were really good

Someone recommended 'Maximum Potential' to me; they have several London clinics including Golders Green. I haven't used them but maybe check them out

@NinaManiana @DrHildegardeLanstrom @JessicaBrassica Thank you so much for these suggestions. I will contact the agencies you mention on Monday. If I can go on a waiting list I will. This is much appreciated!

It was suggested to me that I look at The OT Practice for sensory OT assessment as they take the time to come to visit your child in school. Many other OTs just do in-clinic assessment and I wonder if that would be more useful. We went to Hopscotch years ago for an assessment which helped secure an EHCP but the report was a bit wordy/non-specific (although from their website they do now provide an EHCP frelevant report)

@KnottyAuty thanks for this suggestion. I will look into them

My DD had a sensory assessment at Maximum Potential (the Marylebone branch) and they seemed excellent. The therapist was lovely and her report was very thorough. We’ve had several of these assessments (this one was commissioned by the LA) and this was definitely the best. So I would imagine the therapy they provide is good, too.
