Guardian Disability Article and autism advice

I recently read an article written by a woman with a disabled brother and it was pretty negative about living with disability and not wanting to have a disabled child. There was also many comments in the article agreeing and one woman with autistic children said it’s a life sentence. This got me thinking and worrying as someone who has a young toddler with autism I’m just feeling low about the situation, my dd is wonderful but is a total handful and it’s hard to even take her out sometimes by myself because she keeps trying to run off.
I’m wondering if things will get harder and harder as she gets older. I think I was assuming it will get easier. Can anyone let me know their experience?

I don't think there can be a single answer to this, as people with autism are all individuals.
Some people with autism are not able to live independently. Other people with autism can have fantastic careers, partners, families. Plus everywhere in between.
Many families will learn strategies that help their child. Many young people will learn strategies that help themselves.

Hi it’s getting worse for me, mainly due to my son’s increased anxiety and meltdowns around school etc. I’ve got a thread running as I’m finding it difficult.

My eldest is 10 and it's been up and down. It improved around the age of 7/8 as sensory issues diminished and he became good at listening. Now it's getting worse because he has mental health issues. I think it's different for every child. Also I know people with neurotypical kids who have as many problems with them as I do. I think being a parent has hard times for everyone.
