A bit of background: DS is 12 (year 7). Performs very well at school, excels in maths, has a good group of friends but is generally quite shy. His handwriting is terrible, but was better before he had to use cursive writing. His coordination is not great, but not terrible either. He’s ok at sports and enjoys them. He’s not a natural swimmer but we’re battling on to get him to a decent standard before I let him stop.
So, today I asked his swim teacher how he was doing as she started with: “Well, DS is dyspraxic so he finds it a bit harder as his coordination is poor, but he’s making great progress.” This is the first time anyone has ever mentioned anything like this to me - he’s never been assessed for anything and primary school never raised any issues. I guess my question is should I ignore this woman who I doubt has any medical/diagnostic training or do I need to do something with this information? Thanks in advance
