DD10 is currently on the ASD pathway, but I'm not sure what should be expected in terms of communication from the team.
Timeline so far - DD was seen by a paediatrician Autumn 2020 who referred her to the multidisciplinary team
August 2021 - DD had an ADOS assessment with a SALT. She said that she would call me within a fortnight to discuss the assessment but didn't; after a lot of chasing I eventually spoke to her in October. She said that based on the ADOS assessment alone DD didn't meet the threshold for a diagnosis (I think from memory DD scored 5 and would have needed 7) but that she felt it was plausible DD was on the spectrum and there would be more appointments.
Fast forward to 3 weeks ago, I decided to email the SALT for an update as to where we were in the process. I haven't received a reply.
Yesterday, DD comes home from school and tells me that she had a meeting with a woman who asked her a lot of questions. Fortunately DD remembered her name and google tells me she's an educational psychologist.
My question for those who have been through this is, is it normal not to be kept up to date with where you are in the process? I'm glad to hear obviously that there is movement, but should I not have been told an ed psych would be talking to DD?
All I really want to know is what is happening, I understand the process takes a long time but I feel so in the dark with it.
The SALT is proving a nightmare to communicate with - is there somebody who oversees the whole thing I should talk to? I'd like to know what the ed psych's thoughts are and will DH and I get the opportunity to actually sit down and talk with anybody about DD? So far it's just been some forms to fill in.
