Looking for parent feedback.
As an independent paediatric Occupational Therapist who specialises in education, demand for my input has increased exponentially since the return of schools after the last lockdown. Children who, pre-pandemic, wouldn’t have been on anyone’s radar are now presenting with difficulties with attention, handwriting, sensory and emotional regulation, and delayed motor and independence skills.
In light of the demand, I am trying to think creatively of how to share information to parents on a larger scale than just my caseload, to tool them up to support their child in cases where direct work with an OT may not actually be needed, or to have strategies to get started with whilst their child is on a long waiting list.
I’m considering running remote training sessions on the key OT areas (as above), aimed at parents. The goal of the sessions would be to unpick the theory and jargon, help parents decide and understand their child’s presentation, and provide parents with practical, functional strategies and advice to implement with immediate effect.
As this would take some time and investment to set up, I wanted to first get a feel for the interest out there. If interested, it would also be helpful to get a feel for the times and days people would find helpful, to guide planing.
Your feedback is welcomed! Thanks in advance
