and the consultant paediatrician.

3 weeks ago her staff grade paed gave a dx of an ASD and then retracted it 2 days later, we wrote to the consultant and then when we got no reply wrote to the chief exec of the hospital trust.

so the head of childrens services, consultant paed and me and xdh are going, just waiting for her to ring me with the day/time.

wonder what this means?

Oooh - at least they seem to be taking it seriously. Good luck.

goodluck. I presime it will be to discuss the letter and hear what you have to say. Dont go alone. Do you have parent partnership in your area???

It sounds like they can't come to a decision. But to actually give a diagnosis of asd and then retract it after 2 days sounds insensitive and unprofessional. Then not to take responsibility and reply to your letter made it worse. They are now deciding to do something about it. They could have given you some idea of what will happen. The tension can't be good for you. Good luck

haha, you have written to their boss, so they are having to take you seriously as their boss has asked them to look into it. I would use that point to your advantage if I were you - tell them you feel that you will have to keep writing to the CEO of hosp trust until your voice is heard. They hate that, particularly at end of year which is often appraisal time! Their dx and then retraction makes them look serious inefficient and out of control! Go for it! Mention the press too, if you want to up the ante!

the meeting is on this weds at 11.30am.

The head of childrens services told me that it will be with her and the consultant to discuss our letter, she also said that she has spoken to the head consultant at the hosp that dd is being transferred to and that they all agreed it would be better for the head to see dd instead of one of her team so we have an appointment with her on 16 jan. dont really understand the implication/meaning of that as we were supposwed to be seeing the staff grade paed this thurs at the new hospital, thats been canx and we are seeing the boss in jan.

i know exactly what they are going to say, that cos she has been transferred its out of their hands but im not having that, there is enough medical evidence for a dx and im printing off the ICD-10 and cross referencing what the professionals have said about dd which proves she does have an ASD, we will be mentioning taking it further, i beleive the next step is to ask for an independent commitee to examine our daughters files and see if there has been a misdiagnosis-which there has.

im really nervous about it, but i suppose they should be more nervous, they are the ones who have mess up.

it sounds to me like you have a strong case, and they are throwing lots of more senior resources at it in case their mismanagement comes back on them later. Good luck Jenk1!
