Hello
Y7 DS is diagnosed by an EP as having low processing but the report was done remotely during lockdown and so we have some concerns over whether this is correct or not. He gets private tutoring from an inclusion teacher (who I'll also be talking to about this but not until next week). He is on the inclusion register at s hook but doesn't get specific support (and we've been fine with this).
We've just had his CAT4 parent report which shown an extreme verbal bias. The parent report doesn't give actual numbers but his verbal score is 140+. His quantitative is just over the 110 boundary, his non verbal is firmly over 110 (maybe over 120). His spatial looks pretty much spot on 100. I appreciate this is a snapshot in time, but this matches other reports we've had from CAT4 testing / entrance exams.
Is this type of bias normal for a child with low processing or might this bias be what the EP saw and decided was low processing?
Also, his teachers consistently rate his maths as very strong. Not going to university at 14 strong but his teacher said last week that if he carries on like this he'd been looking at further maths GCSE. This doesn't match CAT4 scores for qualitative. Again, is this 'normal' for low processing? It's very early days but I want to make sure we identify any issues well in advance of GCSEs!
