Sorry a long muddled rant but...........
It's getting to the point where I am starting to seriously despise blooming christmas performances - every year in the lead up to them my ds's behaviour gets really bad and this year he's getting really down over it all.
Problem is, he stays quiet at school (yr 1 mainstream) and explodes when at home with me and am having to watch him like a hawk now coz he takes stress out on 2yr old dd.
As he's quiet at school it's not really taken seriously how much all these rehearsals are doing his head in- he's not statemented (working on that) so only gets minimal help. They try to think for him and often get it SO wrong when working out what the problems could be.
He'll be upset again in the morning about going to school-was upstairs earlier trying to calm him.
Ds hates school anyway but more when this is going on.

Can he not have day off. DD with sensory issues is having tomoro off. Teachers asked me if i wanted to keep her off for school play for dd's sake. She is terrified of children dressing up. She would major kick off if she went and spoil the play.

We've had exactly the same issue buts chool refused him eprmissin to drop out in the end. Annoyingly.

The thing about kicking off at home is really common with ASD's but often ignored- its something we've always ahd issues with (the school cant see the effects they have etc 'Mrs peachy, X is really well settled now'... oh yeah? So how come ds2 looks like an escapee from armageddon again? Hmmmm?). Do you have a home-school book so you can illustrate the links between changes and behaviours at home?

My dd is the same, again she has asd.

The school let her go in with the deputy head and do some christmas type activities whilst rehearsing and she isn't in the show (by choice) as it's too over whelming and stressful for her.

Got on to the statement again asap x

what about a strategic bout of flu? It is a long term for the kids and I think they have all had enough really now, so many off sick and not just problems with the SEN kids. It's something like 9 weeks after half term I think and it's too much
