Those whose children struggle with Christmas & Boxing Day, what do you do? Any alternative plans? Go away?

This year is going to be so tricky and last year was pretty awful to be honest. Nice around it, just three days of absolute stress and exhaustion.

Sorry posted too soon! I think lots of our kiddos cannot cope with the change to routine, food, decorations, visitors, sensory overload, additional tiredness etc.

We've altered the day too. Social story explaining how the day is going to work. Minimal visitors. Ds doesn't have to come to the table to eat at all. Basically it's like every other day but with presents, which ds loves.

No or very few visitors. Keep it low key. We used to have to tell DS in advance what his presents would be, because he didn't like surprises. It has got easier as DS has got older, but I still dread it!

Thanks all. I think we are going to keep low key.
